While not as beloved by everyone as Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog still has a lot of people attached to him. New games are released frequently, and the upcoming live-action movie has sparked controversy, but it shows that Sega is still sticking with the old blue stuff. Today, Sega further proves this with the announcement of its "Sonic 2020" initiative.
Basically, the company promises (via a press release posted on this Japanese site) to publish a new Sonic News on the 20th of every month in 2020. It is in Japanese, but there is also a portal site. It is possible that some of the news that will be published will be unique to Japan, but if any of the game announcements are among them, they will probably be published in the west as well.
Click on the portal site to see wallpapers and Sonic Twitter icons. There is also key art available for this initiative.
Incidentally, a Sonic the Hedgehog movie will be released in February.
