Ark: Genesis delayed until February, but on the plus side, a giant space whale is on the way!

Ark: Genesis, the first chapter of Ark: Survival Evolved's next expansion, was originally scheduled to be released in December 2019, but was later changed to January 2020. However, Studio Wildcard announced today that the release of Genesis has been pushed back again to February 25.

On the plus side, in the new screenshot above you can see a couple of space whales in the expanded version. This is at least a plus. Whales are nice, space is nice, we'll (hopefully) find out in 31 days.

Maybe not so good, especially when you fall out of the turtle base into the water, but it looks like Genesis also has a giant eel boss. To give you an idea of just how huge, if you zoom in on the image below, you can see a small figure that looks like a player floating just to the left of the eel's cleft. Big eels, and big mouths. [It is a full-voiced companion called HLN-A (Human Learning Neural Aid), who follows the player around, giving missions and goals, and telling the player how the story goes.

There are also new bios on the Genesis map, including lava fields, more vast oceans (to match the giant turtles and eels), higher altitude mountain ranges, a low-gravity lunar biome (actually a habitat for space whales called Astroketus), and a swampy area seen below in another new screenshot

"We are very sorry to postpone for a month, but as we have been putting our heads together with the rest of the team, polishing, balancing, and putting the final pieces together, we really felt it was worth the extra wait for both the quality of the base game and the ambitious new expansion," a post on Ark's website

The company also stated that "the new expansion will be available in the next few months.
