Sci-fi horror "Souls"-like "Hellpoint" to be released in April.

The Surge 2 did a pretty good job of adding a sci-fi flavor to the Souls-like formula, but compared to its inspiration it is quite... Bright. Hellpoint is also Souls-like with a sci-fi flavor, but it doesn't seem to escape the grim, oppressive horror elements that made Souls so appealing. The setting is an abandoned space station, but much stranger enemies and encounters await than robots.

Hellpoint raised about $64,500 CAD on Kickstarter last year and will be released on Steam on April 16 this year. The setting is the aforementioned space station, once a bustling metropolis, now sadly overrun by "cruel interdimensional beings. Interestingly, Irid Novo orbits around the black hole in real time, "with a variety of dynamic events occurring, including the appearance of bosses, horde attacks, and changes in enemy status and location."

The game supports online and couch co-op play, and there is a PvP component, but little information is available on how it will play out in the game. In any case, if you have a voracious appetite for challenging third-person RPGs, you can definitely look forward to this one. Watch the trailer below:
