Explore shipwrecks and make new fish friends in Subnautica: Below Zero!

A new early access update to Subnautica: Below Zero has dropped the wreckage of a ship that crashed into a huge ocean. It is a large rusty ship that can be entered to swim and explore, but beware, as dangerous aquatic aliens lurk in its vicinity. The sunken ship is the centerpiece of the update, but there are some even better additions.

First, when you poke your head out of the icy waters of planet 4546B, you have a chance to see the Northern Lights. The real aurora is one of the most spectacular natural phenomena you can witness, but even if you can't travel north to see it for yourself, you can at least catch a glimpse of it in Below Zero.

Of all the additions that the "Lost Ship" update brings, I'm not sure if this is my favorite. It's a new creature called the Aurora and the Trivalve. This is Below Zero's version of the cuddlefish from the main game. Feed these friendly little fish and they may follow you around. Most importantly, wave to them and they will wave back with their tiny tentacles! [Ice stalactites (hanging from the ceiling), which will damage you if you get too close. [stalactites made of ice, which damage you if you get too close to them. Therefore, if you don't notice the brinicle and swim straight into it and kill yourself, you have only yourself to blame.

It is also worth going down to the deep sea. The deep sea is illuminated by the Eurasian gulls and the flowers that grow there. They are beautiful and "ripe with resources, leading to the discovery of further architectures." Just be careful not to get so caught up in gathering supplies that you forget to check your oxygen levels. It happens to all of us.

Unknown Worlds also notes that the Lost Ship update will be the last chance to play the current version of Below Zero's story. The next update will feature a new storyline, so be sure to finish the old storyline soon.
