In February, Kotaku reported that the "Star Wars Battlefront" spinoff game, which was to be developed at Respawn Entertainment, was delayed from its planned launch in the fall of that year to 2019 after EA management decided they did not want to wait. It was cancelled, he said. One bright spot in the report was that two new Star Wars games are reportedly still in development, one a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: the other a "smaller, quirkier" game from EA Motive.

That second project appears to have leaked from PSN Releases, a Twitter bot account that reports on new PlayStation 4 releases. The tweet reveals nothing about "Maverick" or "Project Maverick" other than the title, but the attached image shows an X-Wing flying close to a Stardestroyer in an asteroid belt or something.

Another important note is that Kotaku has confirmed that this is a game in development at EA Motive. We have contacted Electronic Arts for more information and will update if we hear back.
