Baldur's Gate 3 AMA to take place next week

I have been curious about Baldur's Gate 3 ever since it was announced. I love the Baldur's Gate series. But it was too exotic for my basic dungeon-crushing tastes, like illithids and githyanki and flying squid ships, and I just couldn't get into it. Then there's the nostalgia factor. I want to play more "Baldur's Gate," but I don't want to risk ruining the sweet memories of a perfect digital D&D experience.

Today's community update is not because it really goes into detail about the game (it doesn't), but because it reminds us that Larian knows what they're doing. There's a lot of wishful thinking, like "Our job is to create the ultimate Dungeons & Dragons" or something like that, but there's also a lot about the studio between "Divinity Original Sin 2" and "Baldur: Also," "Divinity: Original Sin 2" and "Baldur's Gate 3 Interesting trivia is also presented, such as how the company has grown and its approach to developing "mature" RPGs.

"We want to push the limits of every theme in the game. Asterion (the character used in the gameplay preview of "Baldur's Gate 3") may be a vampire spawn, but that doesn't mean he has to be evil--if hungry," Larian wrote. Larian added, "You saw one path at PAX East, but there were so many possibilities: good, evil, and everything in between... At PAX East, you saw only one path, but you saw good, evil, and everything in between. With this large team and new engine, we can push this further than ever before. divinity: the original sin 2."

Though lacking in specifics, I find this update strangely reassuring. This may not be "my" "Baldur's Gate," but it gives me the sense that Larian really understands what is important about this experience.

More specific information on what lies ahead will be available next week from Swen Vincke (creative director), David Walgrave (producer), Adam Smith (senior writer), Nick Pechenin (lead systems Baldur's Gate 3 is scheduled to launch in Early Access later this year.
