Call of Duty: Warzone" is now available for free.

Activision has finally unveiled its free-to-play battle royale, Call of Duty: Warzone. As we had learned from leaked information, it is not a mode associated with Modern Warfare, but a stand-alone battle royale. See the trailer above.

150 players must fight each other in a battle royale brawl and escape a deadly cloud of gas, but Warzone also has a second mode: Plunder, a get-rich-quick scheme where you scour the map for loot, killing players and taking their cash

Warzone is a "get rich quick" mode.

Both modes take place in Verdansk, which, as we previously reported, is a new map piecing together old and new locations. You can fight in the city, or you can leave civilization behind and fight in the forests and mountains of Verdansk. According to Activision, there are 300 sights on the map, and each zone has landmarks such as lumberyards and dams. It's a large map, but vehicles will help you get around faster. With luck, you'll find an ATV, tactical rover, SUV, cargo truck, or helicopter before someone else pinches you.

There is also a novel respawn system, only in the Battle Royale mode, where players are forced to fight 1vs1 on the Gulag and get a chance to come back. In both modes, you and your squad can choose special objectives that are rewarded with contracts, i.e., cash or loot during the match, or the ability to locate the next circle before the map shrinks. There are many different types of objectives, some of which require locating supply crates or securing specific locations.

The cash earned can be spent on tokens to respawn fallen teammates, revival kits to use on yourself, by-stations where you can pick up killstreaks, and in Plunder you can even buy balloons where you can deposit cash to prevent it from being stolen by other squads. Check out the launch map below.
