Fight monsters and dazzlers in this stylish free roguelike!

ASCII-based roguelikes are a great way to enjoy the genre because they leave room for the imagination. However, this work, "Atgtha in Absurdia" (spelled eerily), adds a bit of flair in the form of bouncy visual and sound effects. The result is a fantastically rich atmosphere.

Atgtha (again) leans toward the simpler side of the rogue-o-complication scale. There are three types of items: shooting, melee, and equipment/potions, and you can only have one of each. There is no food meter to be found, so you can take your time exploring the randomly placed dungeons.

Also, not only is the loot and enemy placement somewhat too random, but the bloody difficulty of the game requires planning. Starting with no ranged or magic weapons nearby, the player must rely purely on melee weapons.

The pain is somewhat mitigated by the game's snappy sense of humor. Every enemy you encounter has a funny, if not punny, description, and finding them all is your main goal in this fancy, engrossing, and delightfully silly roguelike.
