Sin was a near-future shooter about a corrupt biotech multinational corporation and a lone hero trying to stop its despicable leader, the beautiful and charismatic Elexis Sinclair. It was pretty good, but suffered from incredibly unfortunate timing: it was released on November 9, 1998, ten days before "Half-Life."

Yesterday, for reasons (temporarily) unknown, it was removed from Steam. People noticed, but Stephen Kick, CEO of Nightdive Studios, reassured worried Sinners that there was no need to worry because there was a "big reason" for the removal.

Those familiar with Nightdive's work seemed to have a pretty good idea of what had happened, but now we know for sure. It's back on Steam today as Sin Gold, with various crashes and AI issues fixed, overall performance optimized, and new and restored content added. Previously, the Steam version of Sin did not include the expanded content that was available on GOG, but the work done in this update goes far beyond that.

And this is not all that Nightdive has planned for "Sin" - this is just the prelude to a full remastering.

Nightdive is working on a fully remastered version of Sin running on the Kex Engine, which is also used in games including Blood: Fresh Supply, " Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, and Forsaken Remastered. The usual enhancements can be expected, including support for modern resolutions and a crisp UI. Night Dive did not give many details about the remaster yet, but it is currently scheduled for release in late 2020 or early 2021. The studio has unearthed a pile of classic art from Sin, and we hope you enjoy the stunning renderings from the late 90s.

In addition to the System Shock remake, Doom 64 port, and Blade Runner remaster, Night Dive announced today that it is also working on a remastered version of Shadowman, the supernatural action adventure based on the 1999 Valiant comic book.

Players will take on the role of Shadowman as he stalks criminals in both the human realm of Liveside and the Dead Side, where lost souls suffer eternal torment. The updated game will support 4K widescreen displays, add updated visual effects, "polished" art and audio, HDR rendering, and content cut from the original release.

Sin Gold is available on Steam for $8/£6/€6.50, 10% off the regular price until March 25. The remastered version of Shadow Man will be available in early 2021.
