Mount & Blade 2: Banner Road" works beautifully with voice commands.

With no radio, troops in Mount & Blade 2: Banner Road must listen to the roar of a loud commander as they wait for orders. The commander can stand around chopping up opponents or leading an assault, or he can simply stand back and bark at his troops; with the Screamerlord MOD, a pair of custom profiles in VoiceAttack, you can join in by barking yourself.

In a normal Bannerlord brawl, commanding troops means fiddling with a lot of button combos. For example, if you want your cavalry to charge, you need to select the cavalry with the number keys, press F1 to display the movement order, and F3 to tell them to charge. Not very complicated, but a bit cumbersome in the middle of a battle. However, with the Screamerlord profile in diegomayf, it is easy. Just shout "Cavalry Assault" and you're done.

Screamerlord uses a premium voice recognition tool called VoiceAttack. If you don't pay for it, there are some limitations, but it still works fine for banner loads. The premium version allows you to use all 50 commands created by diegomayf, but the free version only allows you to use 20. The free version only allows you to use 20 of them, though.

It is worth spending a few minutes on calibration, but a second, more advanced calibration should not be necessary. Just doing a basic calibration pretty much registered what I was talking about, and as you can see in the video above, none of the commands you shout are particularly complicated.

I've tested it in many battles and the only time I've had problems is when VoiceAttack was focused on the wrong window. Then the only problem was making sure I didn't get stabbed to death while trying to chat with a buddy, which honestly took a bit more time to perfect.

Bannerlord is one of the few games where voice commands are more than a novelty. It obviously fits the military commander theme, but it also feels like a more efficient way to manage your troops. I will definitely continue to use it, at least until my neighbor asks me to stop yelling at my soldiers in the middle of the night.
