Destiny 2's 'Hard Light' Nerfed

Destiny 2's exotic auto rifle Hard Light has been around for a long time, and for the most part has not been particularly noteworthy. It has many advantages, including no damage drop, the ability to switch between elemental damage types, and a nasty ricochet in tight spaces. The reason is that the screenshake upon firing is nauseating and makes it impossible to aim at any distance.

However, adjustments earlier this year reduced its impact, and combined with the overall buffing effect on auto-rifles, it suddenly became a dependable gun, especially in PvP. Especially so in PvP: Today Bungie announced that they intend to slightly weaken the Hardlight in a nerf that will be implemented tomorrow as part of hotfox 2.8.1.1.

Thankfully, this nerf will not bring back the weapon's shake effect, but will instead target the hardlight's long-range effect and lower its stability by a notch.

"Weapons like the Fighting Lion can do the same thing as the Hard Light in indirect fire, but are generally less effective in direct confrontation. The Hard Light boasts many great stats, and as more players use it, its influence grows, eventually making any cover unsafe," Bungie explained.

"Therefore, we have reduced some aspects that allow for indirect fire and unexpected fatalities in strange scenarios, while still retaining some bonuses to keep the flavor. [This hotfix will also include some bug fixes, which will be announced in tomorrow's official patch notes.
