Rick May Tribute Added to Team Fortress 2

Actor Rick May, who voiced the Soldier in Team Fortress 2, died last month at age 79. He contracted COVID-19 while recuperating from a stroke, according to the Rekindle School, where he taught voiceover acting.

Today, Valve released an update to Team Fortress 2, adding a tribute to May in the form of statues on each official map. Each statue's pedestal features the words "That was the hell of a campaign son!" in reference to the Soldier's line. The tribute also includes a new main menu theme.

Following the news of May's passing on April 13, many in the Team Fortress 2 community expressed their own condolences, with TF2 Sniper voice actor John Patrick Lowry posting a short eulogy. He said, "His passing leaves a huge hole in my heart, and I'm sure many others feel the same way.

According to an in-game message, the tribute will last for the month of May.
