Electronic Arts previously revealed that the fifth season of Fortune's Favor would add "quests" to Apex Legends, but gave no indication as to how they would actually work. Today, a new gameplay trailer for Season 5 has been released and, more importantly, details the first quest, a quest to find a mysterious artifact called "The Broken Ghost."

Duo, Trio, LTM, and Ranked players can collect Treasure Packs. Treasure packs are new loot, ranging from crafting materials and apex packs to XP for battle passes and the biggest feature, weekly hunts. There are 45 Treasure Packs available this season, but you can only earn one per day, so share them with your friends.

Weekly Hunts are where things really get interesting. Playable solo or in a squad, it is a "quick and dangerous invasion" of the Kings Canyon map at night. You get to the target location, get the item you are looking for, and then travel to the pickup point to retrieve it. Sounds easy enough, but along the way you have to deal with the prowlers. These are nasty beasts that appeared earlier this year in the Bloodhound trial and take over towns.

The first of nine haunts will be released on May 19 and every week thereafter. Completing the haunts will give you access to some of the artifacts, exclusive weapon charms, and a new chapter in the story of "Broken Ghosts". Unlocked haunts can be replayed at any time during the season, in case you are slow to get into the action or want to play with a different character or approach.

The Broken Ghost storyline continues the story of Roba Andrade, who seeks revenge against the Revenant, an android assassin who ticketed her father. At the start of Season 5, all players will be given a prologue chapter, after which the haunt must unlock successive chapters.

And what happens when one legend stumbles upon the truth: ......" Screenwriter Tom Casciello, the man who was so excited last week about the lore of Season 5, now knows why.

"Outside of the game, we get to see a side of the Legends that we haven't seen before! Alliances are made, friendships are tested, vengeance is taken, and when the dust settles, it's a mountain.

Season 5 of "Apex Legends" will begin on May 12. Here is what we know so far.
