XIII" trailer sets November release date

Update: As expected, the XIII gameplay trailer released today at the IGN Summer of Gaming show confirms that the remake will be released on November 10. Looks great and I'm glad to see that David Duchovny's voice acting remains as apathetic as I remember.

Original:

Microids and PlayMagic have confirmed a release date for their remake of XIII.

The game, a faithful remake of Ubisoft's 2003 adaptation of the Belgian comic book series, will launch on November 10 for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Switch, according to leaks. This is almost a full year later than the previously targeted November 13, 2019, and is said to be a delay to reach "the level of quality and polish (they) were aiming for."

The date was accidentally leaked in a listing for the game on Amazon in Spain, which includes a now-deleted image (found by Gematsu) outlining what will be included in the limited edition. In addition to the game itself, the package will include a metal case, art cards, and the "Golden XIII Weapon" skin pack.

Interestingly, the image also lists PC as the platform for this physical limited edition. This could just be a mistake, but it is nice to have hope that a physical PC release still exists.

This is a leak and should not be considered fact until it is confirmed by Microids, but it is probably just a few hours earlier than the official announcement. It is expected that a new XIII trailer will be shown during today's IGN Summer of Gaming, where the date will likely be properly confirmed.

[14] "XIII" is an important work in the history of gaming purely because it popularized the cel-shaded look that came to be used in games like "Borderlands," "Okami" and "Prince of Persia." It will be interesting to see if this remake, which was not developed by Ubisoft, succeeds in striking a balance between being faithful to the original and being a game released in 2020.
