Resident Evil 8 Debut Trailer Features Werewolves, Witches, and the Evil Chris Redfield

After months of rumors and speculation, "Resident Evil 8: Village" was finally revealed at Sony's PlayStation 5 event. It seems the rumors were right on target.

The first-person perspective has returned, but otherwise the game feels completely different. Creepy insect swarms, witches, snow castles, and decrepit, isolated villages are all on display. I'm all for this wild new direction. Resident Evil is at its best when it's at its weirdest in full-on anime mode, and RE8 seems to be throwing all its energy into this whole new tone. [It has been confirmed that Ethan, the protagonist of RE7, will return as our eyes and arms in RE8.

"Resident Evil 7: Resident Evil Village" takes place several years after "Resident Evil 7" when protagonist Ethan Winters travels to Louisiana in search of his missing wife Mia.

As Ethan finally tries to recover from that horrific event, an unexpected but familiar figure named Chris Redfield suddenly appears in his world, and a series of events take place that lead Ethan to search for answers to Chris' shocking behavior and ultimately find him in the mysterious village events take place.

Also, according to the PlayStation Blog, there will be more emphasis on combat and exploration in this title. Ethan will be exploring the entire village, and if you observe every quick cut of the trailer, he will be facing much bigger and faster enemies this time around than those that fit the mold.

You can check out the trailer from above and stills from below.
