A few words and concepts PC gamers tend to like: cyberpunk, noir, stealth, immersive sim, voxel; Shadows of Doubt combines them all in a new first-person detective game from ColePowered Games Shadows of Doubt combines them all in a new first-person detective game from ColePowered Games, revealed at the PC Gaming Show. Watch the new teaser above.

Shadows of Doubt takes place in a fully simulated sci-fi noir city where a serial killer is on a killing spree, and it's up to you, a detective made of blocks, to stop him. How you go about stopping it is the real fascination of Shadows of Doubt, but we're still waiting for more details. It seems that you can find the culprit in any way you like anyway: trespassing, hacking into a private computer, following a suspect, etc. As is typical of a good detective novel, there is even a conspiracy corkboard for piecing together clues and following up on deductions.

The description on the Steam page further opened my eyes. The claim of a fully simulated city is not bullet-pointed jargon. Every citizen has a job, an apartment, a routine, a hobby, and perhaps a few secrets within. The interiors of all buildings are thoroughly modeled, and there is no door that cannot be opened in Shadows of Doubt. In other words, there is no door that cannot be opened in Shadows of Doubt. I am curious to see how Cole Powered Games will weave such a fascinating mystery in such a huge and extremely complex space.

A release date for "Shadows of Doubt" has not yet been set, but that's fine. As long as immersive sim games continue to emerge at a slow and steady pace, we'll be fine. We, the platform, need it.
