At the recent Xbox Games Showcase, Fatshark announced the third installment in the Warhammer series, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, which, like its predecessor Vermintides, is a four-player co-op FPS. However, as the name suggests, this title takes place in Warhammer's 401st century of science fiction.

In Dark Tide, players will journey deep into the Hive City, a self-contained, densely populated arcology that is supposed to be home to millions of humans. In the trailer, however, the heroes will instead encounter the forces of the Chaos cult. [According to a Fatshark press release, "Players will not be able to hide behind deadly ranged weapons.

The player seems to take on the role of an inquisitor acolyte, which makes sense given Vermintide's eclectic, badass tendencies. However, no further details are known. Clearly Warhammer 40K is a vast world of fiction (there are over 100 novels alone), and if Vermintide is any indication, perhaps Darktide will see an expansion to focus on different military units, enemy factions, or environments.
