Here is a first look at the next three Warframes coming this year.

TennoCon 2020, Warframe's massive fan convention, took place today, and during a special presentation on Warframe art, Digital Extremes gave the first look at three new Warframes that will appear sometime in 2020! One is a Frankenstein-like monster called Xaku, another is a serpent-like scientist called Alchemist, and the last one is called Wraithe. But the cool thing is that all three warframes were designed by artists that Digital Extremes either hired or contracted, or were at one time just fan artists.

The full panel can be viewed here, where members of Warframe's art team explain each new design and the story behind its creation; Xaku is the most interesting of the three, if only because it was designed by the community itself.3 In May, Digital Extremes invited players to submit ideas for Warframe and hired artists to bring the most popular themes to life. Earlier this week, I interviewed Community Manager Danielle Sokolowski about the entire process.

Digital Extremes did not reveal what the capabilities of these warframes will be (they are still in development and won't be in the game for a while), but what they will look like is cool.

After Zaku launches, the next warframe will be the Alchemist, which, as the name suggests, evokes a sort of mad scientist theme. There is also a serpent theme in the design of the Alchemist, as evidenced by the serpentine tendrils that wrap around and hang down from its arms.

Last but not least is my favorite, Wraithe. Designed by community artist Reiger, this war frame is reminiscent of Neon Genesis Evangelion. As art and animation director Geoff Crookes explains, Liger first created this concept several years ago, which led to a contract to design a cosmetic skin for warframe. Some time later, Liger again proposed the idea, and after adjusting the overall design so that it would actually work in the game, it was adopted.

What I'm really interested in hearing about are the abilities, but it would be cool to see what the next three warframes will look like. You can learn more about their designs on the art panel, or check out an interview about the creation of Zak. For more info on TenoCon 2020, check out the hub.
