Suicide Squad: Take on the Justice League, 4-player co-op revealed!

On today's DC FanDome live stream, Warner Bros. unveiled Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Rocksteady's new game about a team of semi-modified supervillains from the DC Universe who are occasionally forced to do some good. The game will be released in 2022. [Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark will appear as playable characters. The trailer shows them hanging out while Metropolis is being attacked by Brainiac, then being activated and going after Superman. No, this is Superman going around ruthlessly killing people.

Given that the subtitle is "Take down the Justice League," perhaps there are other evil versions of Batman, Wonder Woman, and others for the anti-hero to defeat.

After the trailer, Sefton Hill, creative director and co-founder of Rocksteady, sat down with Will Arnett to discuss further details. Apparently, it will be a "continuation of the Arkhamverse. Given that Gotham Knights is not set in the same timeline as the Arkham games, perhaps this is so?

Each member of the Suicide Squad has a different weapon, Deadshot has a wrist cannon and a jetpack that he can use to burn people, Harley Quinn uses a baseball bat and a grapple gun, King Shark has a twin cleaver and a big cannon-like wielding one, and Captain Boomerang throws a boomerang.

One to four players can play cooperatively, switching between characters as they please. Hill explains, "Even if you're playing single-player, you'll be playing in a full squad," with the other players being "bots.

Rocksteady recently made headlines for complaints of harassment and abusive behavior at the studio, but promised to take further action to develop an "inclusive culture."

Earlier today, Warner Bros. also released "Gotham Knights," a game in which Batman dies and the criminals who protect the city in his absence. This one is being produced by WB Games Montreal.
