New DLC for Children of Malta raises money for Humane Society

11 Bit Studios and Dead Mage are raising funds for Humane Society International charity with "Paws and Claws," a new DLC for the family-friendly action RPG Children of Morta. The DLC adds a variety of animals to the game, including deer, foxes, and various species of birds, as well as an animal shelter system and locations where players can care for animals in exchange for bonuses in combat.

The newly added animals simply wander around the location with their own faces, as pets often do, and are sometimes not seen at all as they wander through the jungle. By feeding them treats that drop from treasure chests in the dungeon, the happiness level can be raised from Normal to Happy, Excited, or Overjoyed, adding new "boosts" to critical chance, movement speed, XP gain, luck, and dodge chance.

All proceeds from the "Paws and Claws" DLC will be donated to the Humane Society International, a charitable organization that "promotes the human-animal bond, rescues and protects dogs and cats, improves livestock welfare, protects wildlife, promotes animal-free testing and research, responds to natural disasters and combats cruelty to animals in all forms." The money will be donated to the Humane Society International, a charitable organization that "protects and advances the welfare of domestic animals, protects wildlife, promotes animal-free testing and research, responds to natural disasters, and combats all forms of cruelty to animals.

"'Paws and Claws' is the kind of content that embraces the depth of meaning we often pour into our games," said Karol Kara, producer of Children of Morta. Animals are a large part of the original story of "Children of Morta," so it was natural for us to enrich our relationships with them in the game. In addition, collaborating with an organization like Humane Society International fits perfectly with the 11-Bit Studios mindset.

This is not the first time 11-bit has released charity-focused DLC for its games: the "War Child" DLC for This War of Mine, released in 2015, raised over $500,000 for the UK-based charity War Child raised to support children affected by war around the world.

In addition, "Children of Morta" received an updated Treasure Pack today that is free to all players.
