Monster Hunter: World Iceborn" Players Face Fatalis in Final Update

The final major update to Monster Hunter World: Iceborn is scheduled for October. As a final challenge, hunters must defeat the legendary black dragon, Phataris.

Phataris likes fire, hangs out in castles, and destroys kingdoms. It is quite a prey. As a reward for defeating this fearsome beast, a set bonus skill will do something. The developers aren't ready to reveal it yet, but the developer diary above strongly suggests it will raise the skill cap.

Along with dragons, The Final Stand update will introduce a new skill that will allow you to take full advantage of clutch claws with any weapon. For example, if you are using a light weapon, it usually takes two attacks to soften up a hooked monster, but with the new skill you will only need one.

With the addition of master rank layered armor, fashionistas will be able to unlock all layered armor sets, but it appears that some armor will require materials from event quests that are not immediately available. That would likely be the new limited-time "Arch-tempered Velkhana" event quest, which will appear this fall.

If you want to spruce up a room, you will be able to fuse more ornaments and decorate it with new items such as pendants and monster bones.

The final stand will appear on October 1, followed by October's seasonal event: the Fun Fright Fest. Your palico will also feature Halloween-themed armor and costumes for your handlers. But before that, you can play all the previous seasonal events at Fest Rush.

In the three weeks leading up to Final Stand, Capcom will deliver three event quests beginning September 11. Iceborne's first anniversary event quests will also be available from September 7-11. For those in the monster hunting business, the next few months are going to be very busy.
