How AMD's RX 6000 series GPUs look in "Fortnite".

Let's take our first close look at AMD's Radeon RX 6000 series in Fortnite. That's right, AMD has unveiled the first next-generation graphics card to take on the Nvidia Ampere in Epic Games' Fortnite. For those of you who don't want to download the battle royale, we went undercover at the game and took a few candid snaps of the RDNA 2 graphics card, so take a look.

AMD has officially released just one image of the triple-fan RX 6000 graphics card following a teaser by Chief Gaming Officer Frank Azor.

If you want to visit it yourself, that's the Creative Island code: 8651-9841-1639.

AMD's teaser was not only a comment made by Azor after the announcement that seemed to be aimed at those who were unhappy with AMD's marketing approach as well as the controversy it seems to have generated. The tweet is embedded below.

Fortnite fans or not, there is certainly something to be said for AMD taking a decidedly different path than its competitors in the release of graphics cards.

For its part, Nvidia kept the Ampere GPU under wraps officially until its release, with only one teaser at the end of a video posted a few days before the event; AMD showed the card more than a month earlier than the planned announcement stream, and in a Fortnite provided a taster.

However, all important details about the release and performance of the RDNA 2 are still being kept under wraps, and will probably remain under wraps until the series is officially announced. Leaks notwithstanding,

the Radeon RX 6000 series will actually be announced during a live stream on October 28, 2020 beginning at 12pm ET. Stay tuned.
