Sony Withdraws "Demon's Souls" Remake Trailer, Says Reference to PC Was "Human Error"

Update: After releasing a trailer for Demon's Souls today that included the disclaimer "Playable on PC," Sony has set the trailer to private and said the last text in the photo above was an error. A Sony representative told PC Gamer, "The incorrect text was due to human error. That rep stated that Demon's Souls is "exclusive to PlayStation 5."

When asked about whether Demon's Souls is actually a lifetime PlayStation 5 exclusive or a timed exclusive like Death Stranding, Sony declined to elaborate further. Sony declined to elaborate further, reiterating that "'Demon's Souls' is exclusive to PlayStation 5."

In August, shortly after porting Horizon Zero Dawn to the PC, Sony's company report stated that the company would "consider expanding 1st party titles to the PC platform."

Demon's Souls seems like an ideal place to start.

Original text follows.

Original: You'll want to watch the latest gameplay trailer for Demon's Souls, which appeared at today's PlayStation 5 event, on YouTube.

"There is also a PC version."

While Bluepoint's gorgeous remake is not From Software's original version (it can be emulated almost perfectly on PC), the PC finally gets another game of Souls, and the one that started it all.

Sony's blog confirms that Demon's Souls is a PlayStation 5 launch game, but will probably be ported to PC later. It is also worth noting that the console version will cost $69.99, which will likely set a new full-price standard for next-generation console games.

If you want to avoid spoilers, you'll want to skip the trailer, which features a bunch of the biggest bosses, but here's what you can glean from the overall demo: This Demon's Souls is not just a one-on-one remake. Bosses have new attacks, and some areas and enemies deviate significantly and artistically from the original.

In any case, I love a good adaptation. Blue Point Games put out a great remake of "Wanda and the Colossus" a few years ago, so I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with "Demon's Souls." on the PC. Ultrawide. on RTX.

Phew, feels good. Hey, Sony, what's next, Bloodborne?
