Destiny 2: Beyond Light trailer features Europa and an old friend

A new trailer for Destiny 2's new expansion, Beyond Light, offers a brief, cryptic tour of some of the locations on Europa, a new destination. But wait a minute! Who is that? It's an old friend who can't be explained.

The first of the trailer's two narrators is Varix of Royal, a Fallen ally from the previous film. So far we have not seen him in Destiny 2, but his presence is felt. Most notably, he was responsible for the prison break in the "Forsaken" expansion, which is directly related to Cayde's death. So there is a question to be answered.

We have also heard from Exo Stranger, who appeared during the original campaign of the first film. Since then, we have not heard from her, except for at least a few deep lore references.

In short, it appears that Beyond Light will be working on a long-pending plot thread as players pursue the Darkness and its new stasis abilities.

As for Europa itself, a press release sent with the trailer reveals some of the places that will be visited:

If the Forsaken expansion focused on the Awoken and their history and culture, Beyond Light is a race of Exo Destiny It seems to explore the robo-folk, the race of Exo Destiny. It will continue with a new raid that explores the deep stone crypts from which Exo is made.

The trade-off is a new plan from Bungie called the Destiny Content Vault, which will remove about half of the existing game for the new elements.

Beyond Light will be released on November 10.
