In the most recent This Week at Bungie blog, the developer announced that it would "honor a friend" in the form of a new quest designed to memorialize a colleague who died in the line of duty.Matt Helsom, an Activision studio that worked with Bungie on Destiny 2 He was a senior artist and video game animator at Vicarious Visions, one of the Helsom died last year at the age of 45.

"We wanted to remember his contributions to the world of Destiny," said Bungie's CEO, John Helsom. We wish his family, friends, and all those he influenced in his lifetime well." Thank you to everyone in the community who joins us in remembering this warm soul."

This quest will begin with today's reset and will require a visit to the Bray Tech FutureScape region of Mars to complete. Head to Ana Bray and turn left as if going to the Mind Lab: head to Rasputin. On the way, there is a small room with terminals around two tunnels. One of them has a datapad, which should prompt you to "investigate". Here are some pictures to help you find that terminal.

When you are done, go back to Ana and you will see a message about writing Helsom into Destiny's lore forever. According to Ana, Helsom was a Golden Age Xenoarchaeologist who believed that humans had encountered extrasolar species long before they met the Traveler. Before this event was made public, Bungie's community manager warned people not to expect anything as big as in-game items in this quest. It can be exchanged with Master Rahul, the tower's Crypt Stark, for a quest-based exotic weapon that was not available in previous seasons. (The options are Leviathan's Breath bow, Eriana's Vow hand cannon, Bastion fusion rifle, Symmetry scout rifle, or Devil's Ruin side arm.)

If you already have all of these and an exotic cypher obtained with this season's pass, note that you can only have one cypher at a time. However, you can use it with Xur on weekends to receive a totally random exotic. All in all, it feels like a sweet way to honor someone who sounds like he was one of the good guys.

Those who have so far resisted Destiny 2's dark pull may be interested to know that Forsaken and Shadowkeep are included in the Xbox GamePass. The next installment, Beyond Light, is scheduled to be released on November 10, but is behind schedule due to the coronavirus. A new trailer for it was released earlier today.
