Sega Celebrates 60th Anniversary with Steam Sale, Changes Cover Art for Games

As noted on the Go Sega website, this year marks the 60th anniversary of the founding of Nippon Koraku Bussan Co. Five years later, Sega began importing coin-operated arcade games to Japan. To celebrate, Sega is running a 60th anniversary sale on Steam. (So far, the sale seems to be rolling out only to certain regions.)

If you ever wondered why the spine of Sonic Mania was Dreamcast, now you know. But why is the Sega Genesis Classic the trade dress of the Sega Saturn? At least it explains why "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" is available for free.

Among the cheaper games are Company of Heroes 2 at 95% off, Two Point Hospital at 70% off, Persona 4 Golden at 20% off, and Total War: Warhammer 2 at 66% off. It is also free to play this weekend. The sale runs through October 19.

Thanks to the success of the PC version of Persona 4 Golden, Sega has stated that more games will be ported here in the future.
