Exploring Stardew Valley's monster-crawling mines on your own is a bit risky. One minute you're happily mining, and the next, cave flies, green slimes, and rock clubs are interrupting your work. Thankfully, with the Stardew Valley NPC Adventures mod, you no longer have to dig through dungeons alone.
The people of Pelican Town are a humble bunch and not the adventurous type. They would usually rather spend a cozy evening over a cup of tea than fight monsters in a dark cave, but this mod brings out their adventurous side.
To request an adventure from a fellow villager, you must first have at least 5 hearts on that character. The villagers you join will follow you until you kick them out, each area will have its own dialogue, they will give you items when your pack is full, and they will even fight with you when things get rough. What I like about this mod is that each character is assigned an RPG-inspired class, giving your companions special abilities that reflect their personalities.
There are five classes in all: doctor, warrior, gatherer, scaredy-cat, and fighter. The scared class may seem a bit out of place, but it seems to be the most fun. Characters with this ability scream and run away when they see monsters, but they have powerful buffs to compensate. One character that stands out in my mind is Harvey, who is part of the doctor class (not surprisingly). He can heal himself when his strength drops below 30% and will try to help you before you fall.
These class abilities are great for dungeon exploration, but they also have many uses beyond monster slaying. Some special abilities are great for resource scavenging, while others are great for a bit of farming; you can see each character and their assigned class on the NPC Adventure website.
