Morrowind Rebirth" Update Brings "Another Massive Change"

The Morrowind Rebirth mod was first released in 2011 and has been updated regularly since then. The latest patch brings it to version 5.3, and as modder Trancemaster_1988 says, "Another large number of changes have been made. This time around, we spent most of our time building a more believable world space, so expect to see a lot of changes in that department."

A major effect of Morrowind Rebirth is to change the layout of settlements and landscapes. The island of Vvardenfell feels alien when you first visit it, but over time that feeling fades, and Morrowind Rebirth brings it back, a trend that continues in the 5.3 patch. For example, in Seyda Neen, the first settlement we visit, the lighthouse now stands on a separate island instead of on a rocky hill next to the town, making it even taller. The town of Suran underwent a major renovation, a wooden bridge was built across the ash land between Seyda Nîn and Hula Ord, and the Ghost Gate received an expansion "including a new watch tower, a shelter for temple pilgrims, and a small inn."

There are also adjustments such as more weapons and artifacts, and shopkeepers will no longer attack you if you steal low-value items. A glow map has also been added to candles, giving the illusion that the wax is transparent, but this is one of those small changes that only those who have played hundreds of hours of "Morrowind" will notice.

Morrowind Rebirth is a great mod for anyone who wants to make a classic RPG unfamiliar again, and can be downloaded from ModDB or NexusMods If you are new to Morrowind, you should stick with the vanilla version, but if you must If you must start with a mod, I recommend the Morrowind Graphics Extender and Better Heads, as well as the Code Patch which fixes a few bugs.
