The Red Team will lift the lid on the AMD RX 6000 series graphics cards today, with Lisa Su and co-developers detailing the Big Navi specs that will hit desktops in November. We expect the Radeon staff to announce at least two new enthusiast-class graphics cards to scare Nvidia and spoil tomorrow's RTX 3070 announcement.

The event will be live streamed today starting at 12pm Eastern Time (9am Pacific Time, 4pm UK Time). You can also visit the RX 6000 live blog for updates. Titled "Where Gaming Begins: The new AMD Radeon™ RX 6000 series graphics cards with RDNA2 architecture are the most powerful gaming graphics cards ever produced by AMD. [Initially, AMD introduced the untitled Big Navi GPU at the Ryzen 5000 series event, which Lisa Su described as "capable of 4K gaming performance at 60fps or better.

Then a leak, presumably from an AMD GPU partner, suggested that the RX 6800 XT card would go head-to-head with the Nvidia RTX 3080, but could undercut it in price. This would be like manna from heaven for gamers who could not afford the hard-to-find Ampere GPUs, and could see many turning to join Team Radeon.

But only if the performance numbers are right, the driver stack is solid, and the pricing makes sense. And only if AMD actually manufactures enough to meet demand, and only if they don't run out of stock as soon as they launch.

I would be very surprised if AMD's new cards don't also sell out almost immediately, since there are so many people looking for new cards. Would the launch then be considered a success?

But that's all in the future. For now, it will be a little while before we hear exactly what AMD has planned for the first true enthusiast GPU in years. Exciting times.
