Over the weekend, we told you that more people are playing The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt at the same time than when it first launched. In case you forgot, that was in 2015: according to Steam Charts, the peak number of concurrent players in May 2015 was an astounding 92,268

This number continued to rise after the weekend, and today, the nearly five-year-old game set another record! It set a new record, surpassing 100,000 concurrent players for the first time ever, and while it's probably out of reach to crack Steam's top five games (not counting anything at this point), passing "Destiny 2" is impressive enough on its own.

This sudden resurgence in popularity is almost certainly due to the success of The Witcher on Netflix, as mentioned before, and thanks to the ridiculous sales of The Witcher 3 on Steam and GOG, curiosity about the game is easily satisfied and during the vacations have free time to immerse themselves in the game. (The fact that it is an outstanding RPG is also a contributing factor.)

This number will inevitably decline. Even if all newcomers played the game from start to finish, an ageing single-player RPG would not be able to sustain a player base as well as a free-to-play game that is actively being developed. With the release of the Director's Cut version, uncensored cards are now available everywhere.)
