'Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker' Makes KOTOR's Revan Canon

After Disney absorbed Lucasfilm and streamlined the history of this troubled galaxy, many great Star Wars characters and stories were discarded. Most of the ones that didn't make it to the movies were placed in the non-canon pile, including "Knights of the Old Republic," but as of "Rise of Skywalker," Revan was finally put back in the history books.

The Rise of Skywalker visual dictionary, first discovered by Screenrant, mentions an old Sith Lord, including a hint that Luke actually obtained the Jedi Crusader's broken lightsaber crystal.

The book also reveals that the Sith trooper army, while looking very cool, is named after famous Sith, including Revan, of whom the movie gives absolutely nothing away. They are Aneddu, Desolas, Phobos, Revan, Tanis, and Tenebras. Certainly Sith-like.

Levan is not the only character drawn from the game. Phobos and Desolus were created for Force Unleashed and were defeated by Starkiller. Naming the corps after the losers does not inspire much confidence.

With three games (one of which is ongoing) and two comics, there is still a lot of Old Republic-era stuff that probably hasn't been added to the canonical history of Star Wars, but Revan is not the first to return; in Star Wars: Rebels, the Knights of the Old Republic 2, the planet Malachor will make an appearance

. Disney has said that everything related to Star Wars will be canon from now on, and new characters and stories have since been added to The Old Republic. All of this is a bit confusing and the opposite of what Disney was trying to accomplish.
