Ryzen 7 2700 and 3 months of Xbox Game Pass for $135.

General
Ryzen 7 2700 and 3 months of Xbox Game Pass for $135.

Have you been putting off upgrading or building a new gaming PC, and now that it's 2020, resolve not to try to survive on outdated hardware for another year and check out this great deal on a Ryzen 7 2700 processor. Apply coupon code EMCDGDF22 at checkout and you can take it home for $134.99 from Newegg.

While this is well below the unrealistic $299.99 list price/launch price and no longer sells for anywhere near that amount, it's still $15 off the typical price and the lowest price we've seen for this CPU. As an added bonus, you get 3 months of free Xbox Game Pass for PC.

To be clear, the 2700 is a previous-generation processor based on AMD's Zen+ architecture, not Zen 2. However, since Zen+ parts are essentially clearance priced now, we consider the slower Ryzen 5 2600 to be one of the best gaming CPUs for budget builds. [The 2700 handles multi-threaded workloads with 8 physical cores and 16 threads. It has a base clock of 3.2 GHz, a maximum boost clock of 4.1 GHz, 20 MB of total cache, and a TDP of 65W. This processor is also bundled with a Wraith Spire air-cooled cooler (with LED control), so there is no need to spend extra money.

Despite being a generation old, the 2700 is a respectable chip, especially at this price point, and the graph in our Ryzen 7 3700X review confirms where the 2700 sits in the performance hierarchy of Intel and AMD processors. Or take a look at the "Overall Gaming Ratings" graph, which synthesizes the individual gaming benchmarks: when paired with the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, the overall average was 112.2 fps, compared to 127.9 for the 3700X, which sells for $329.99 on Newegg at 127.9 fps.

In short, it loses a few fps compared to certain parts and saves $195 (which could be spent on a faster graphics card, more RAM, etc.).
