Piranha Games has released the first version of its MechWarrior 5 mod editor through the Epic Games Store.

Along with the editor, Piranha Games has prepared a handy guide. Read it all the way through and you will see how to set up Wwise to create a test map, spawn AI mechs on the map, spawn yourself, create level 6 weapons, change mech loadout assets, and do audio modeling.

There are already several mods available via Nexus Mods, most of which were released before the editor was released, some of which allow you to control mechs with your voice. Newer ones include mods that add better rewards and immersion mods that make you feel like you are watching the game through the pilot's helmet.

I haven't spent much time on the mechs since I'm still into their tactical counterpart, Battletech, but maybe it's time to get back into it.
