At the December Game Awards, The Elder Scrolls Online pinged last year's adventure in Elsweyr and unveiled a teaser trailer teasing a new journey into Skyrim this year. Today, Bethesda is showing off even more of what to expect when you return to your Nordic homeland. This is because the western Skyrim has a vampire problem.

Despite the permanent tie between Skyrim and dragons in The Elder Scrolls V, ESO just settled that particular villain in Elsweyr, and the new area of Skyrim in the MMO version of Tamriel is a darker, more "gothic " narrative designed to portray the story of a vampire lord. A vampire lord has gathered an army of other vampires, witches, and weres to terrorize the North, and Lilith Titanborn, a giant blood nord from ESO's original campaign story, will join players for a year in the Skyrim version.

The next year of ESO, officially called Dark Heart Of Skyrim, will feature four updates throughout the year, beginning with the Harrowstorm dungeon DLC. in February, all players will be able to access the free prologue quest for Dark Heart of Skyrim Players who have purchased or upgraded to the new expansion will have access to the dungeon, and on May 18, the Greymoor chapter, which appears to be the meat of the storyline for the first half of the year, will continue the events from Harrowstorm.

Later in the year, another new dungeon and story zone will be added to the ESO map, both of which have not been announced as of yet. This year's updates will also include a new public dungeon, a Hallowstorm Group world event similar to the current "Dark Anchor," and a 12-player ordeal called "Aegis of Cain."

Like Elsweyr, The Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor is becoming the definitive version of the game; new players purchasing ESO for the first time will begin their adventure in Western Skyrim at level 1, with ESO's previous chapters packed Current players will be able to play ESO for the first time. Current players can upgrade to Greymoor, which includes other ESO chapters: Morrowind, Summerset, and Elsweyr.
