Fans of Apex Legends have discovered images of a rumored new character, Revenant.

EA and Respawn revealed yesterday that a new character in Season 4 of Apex Legends will be a large, Doomfist-style brawler named Forge. This may have come as a bit of a surprise to fans of the game: the "what we know about the next Apex Legends" we reported in October 2019 was about a completely different character named Revenant. This was based entirely on leaks and rumors, and while sometimes these things can go wrong, it seemed pretty solid for an unsubstantiated story.

But still, Forge. Look at that tough boy.

But wait! The Revenant may still be lurking, as this image posted on Reddit (via USgamer) was hidden on the EA Answers site. Interestingly, EA has yet to remove this image, despite the fact that the very official-looking image has been circulating for several hours.

Another Redditor, VonHollde, found another image in the background of yesterday's Season 4 blog post that possibly hints at the Revenant; a redditor named runchild created an animated version, but frankly I'm not entirely convinced. I suppose the Revenant's existence depends largely on how much you want to see it.

That said, it seems certain that the Revenant will eventually join the party; Respawn and EA were reluctant to make a lengthy unveiling of the new character, and it took months for Crypto to go from rumor to real boy.

I contacted EA for more information. In the meantime, you can catch up on everything officially announced about Apex Legends Season 4, which begins February 4, here.
