Resident Evil has taken some surprising detours over the years, but "Resident Evil Resistance," which pits Raccoon City teenagers against a Mr. X-like entity, is one of the more unusual. According to Capcom, it doesn't quite fit in with the rest of the game and is actually unorthodox.
Peter Fabiano, producer of the "Resident Evil 3 Remake," confirmed that while familiar faces will appear, this will not be part of the official "RE" canon. Resident Evil Resistance "is a scenario set in Raccoon City, which makes it impossible to fit it into the actual timeline," he told Official PlayStation Magazine.
Besides enemies and locations, there are some other similarities. One of the reasons Capcom decided to bundle "Resident Evil 3 Remake" with "Resistance" was thematic connection.
"You may remember that the Japanese subtitle for 'RE3' was 'The Last Escape,'" Fabiano said. Those two titles made sense thematically, since the characters would be trying to escape from somewhere." I also wanted to try an online game set in the 'RE' world. [It's a shame, because officially, I liked the idea of a group of school kids being able to survive the hordes of zombies and mutants, as well as highly trained operatives like Chris and Jill.
"Resident Evil 3 Remake" and "Resident Evil: Resistance" are scheduled for release on April 3.
Cheers, GamesRadar.
