Update (9:45 p.m. ET): Bungie has confirmed that player accounts have been rolled back and the game will be back online at 7 p.m. PST (10 p.m. ET).

Update (6:30 p.m. PST): Bungie has released more information about the upcoming fix, which will roll back all player accounts at approximately 8:30 a.m. PT (11:30 p.m. ET) on January 28.

Destiny 2 is now expected to come back online at 7:00 PM PT/10:00 PM ET.

Here's the original: [Destiny 2 update 2.7.1 was released a little earlier today, with adjustments, bug fixes, and miscellaneous changes that are common in hotfixes. For example, the performance of the "suffering room" in the "Heresy Pit" dungeon has been improved, and a fix has been added for a bug that allowed Sunbreaker Titans to gain stacks of Roaring Flame by destroying Telesto projectiles. But apparently that's not all. Quite a few players have reported on Reddit (here and here, or here if you want the full story) and Twitter that glimmer, ascendant shards, enhancement prisms, and other materials were missing after the maintenance period.

Not all players were affected by this issue, and while our own Tim Clark dodged the bullet, one of his fellow Guardians was not so lucky. Reportedly, the players affected by this issue seem to have lost all of their glimmer, but varying amounts of other material.

Bungie has acknowledged that something untoward appears to have happened and is currently investigating. According to a representative, they will share any updates as soon as they have them.
