Bethesda Holds 24-Hour Sale to Benefit Australian Fire Relief

Bethesda Softworks will hold a 24-hour sale on Bethesda.net and the Humble Store to raise funds for Australian wildfire relief efforts. From 10 a.m. Japan time on January 30 to 1 p.m. on January 31, Bethesda games on both sites will be offered at a 33% discount, with net proceeds going to the Australian Red Cross.

Separately, Bethesda will be selling Fallout-themed Responders Australia charity T-shirts for $25, with all proceeds going to the Salvation Army in Australia. The shirt, which features a design of Vault Boy holding a koala (and not doing anything terrible), is currently available for pre-order and will ship in March.

Australia's 2019-20 wildfire season has been particularly devastating: an estimated 10.6 million hectares have burned, at least 32 people have died, and thousands of homes have been destroyed. In addition, as many as one billion animals died as a result of the fires, either directly or through loss of habitat and food sources. Relatively cool and wet weather has eased some of the strain on firefighters, but officials have recently warned that high temperatures and strong winds are expected to return, which could intensify existing fires or start new ones. [Bethesda is not the only company selling Australian fire relief-themed T-shirts: Bungie, the developer of Destiny 2, is also selling "Guardians for Australia" T-shirts for $25, and is taking pre-orders until February 8.
