BB-8 and Evil Droid Ball Twin Brothers in Star Wars Battlefront 2

In December, Electronic Arts announced that the Weeble-like droid BB-8 and his villainous sidekick would somehow make an appearance as playable characters in Star Wars Battlefront 2. In a Community Transmission update posted today, the developer revealed what players can expect from BB-8's appearance (after a slight delay), as well as that the game will return to the original trilogy with Age of Rebellion in February.

BB-8, "known for his courage" (he is a machine), will be an aggressive hero and help balance out the currently favored light side of the lineup. The droid moves faster than other characters and quickly captures command posts; BB-8 wields a shock prod that deals damage over time to enemies it hits and extends three tow cables that spin at high speed, dealing "heavy damage" to all enemies in range, and has a "cable The "Cable Spin" ability deals "heavy damage" to all enemies within range. The "Rolling Charge" ability allows BB-8 to lunge at enemies, damaging them or pushing them with its head, while the "Resistance Back" ability reveals enemies around BB-8 and slightly increases its damage.

BB-9E is BB-8's First Order doppelganger (black so you know he's evil), a "cold and calculating" (he's a machine) support hero; like BB-8, he is equipped with a shock prod and can create a smoke screen and deploy a "super success mode" on all nearby friendly blasters BB-9E is also fast moving and regularly regenerates the health of nearby friendly characters.

The update adds "Age of Resistance" to the "Supremacy" game mode and adds two new Capital Ships: the MC85 Star Cruiser and the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer. In addition, the Era Select menu will be expanded to include Supremacy, and Auto Players (Co-op, Capital Supremacy, and Instant Action mode bots) will be improved to allow players to play as droidekas on all planets and modes that support droidekas

BB ups.

The BB update was supposed to be released yesterday, but was delayed until February 3 due to last minute "critical issues". In addition, EA also talked about the upcoming Age of Rebellion, where the name Capital Supremacy will be changed to simply Supremacy. Also, Star Wars Battlefront's planet Scarif, "one of the most requested planets," will be added to Battlefront 2 with Age of Rebellion. More details will be revealed later in February.
