New update to the gorgeous sci-fi roguelike shooter Beacon

Have you crash-landed on an alien planet recently? No, because Beacon recently got a bunch of new guns and weird body parts, and Beacon is a gorgeous sci-fi shooter with a stylish aesthetic that's hard to resist. Last week, Beacon received a major 2.5 "Pathfinder" update and finished its Early Access content for release later this year. This update added 100 new weapons to Beacon. I can only attribute this to the flare gun, not me, as it kills me every time I pick it up; the Pathfinder update also revamped the pickup items, adding passive pickups for those slobs who forget to use their active items. In Beacon, you collect DNA while defeating enemies and then use that DNA to modify yourself with new stats, powers, and abilities. You can build a lot of cool high risk/high reward setups. I'm a big fan of giving yourself as much speed as possible, even at the expense of literally everything else. The last update, 2.4, also added tons of new enemies.

I first heard about Beacon in 2016 and then caught up with itch to release it in 2018 Beacon is available on Steam and Itch.io for $20 and will be fully released later this year Beacon's gorgeous website can be checked out here.
