Director Christophe Gans recently told the French website Allocine that he is working on two projects. One is a film based on "Fatal Frame," aka "Project Zero. According to Google Translate, he said, "The movie will be set in Japan. I don't particularly want to break the game out of its Japanese haunted house setting." He said. He then mentioned the new Silent Hill movie: "The project will always revolve around the atmosphere of a small American town ravaged by Puritanism. I think it's time for a new film."

Rumor has it that two Silent Hill games are also currently in development.

Gans directed the first Silent Hill movie, released in 2006, and while the story wasn't quite as good, he got the visuals and music right. He turned down an offer to direct the sequel, 2012's Silent Hill: Revelations, which he has not seen. As he explained in the same interview, "When I understood that the producers wanted the film to be like Resident Evil, I turned it down."

Gans also directed "Wolf, Brother," which makes one wonder if "Bloodborne" would be a better fit than "Silent Hill," but let's see how this third attempt goes.
