Patriot Announces NVMe SSD Lineup with Capacities up to 1TB

Most would agree that SSDs are the best thing that has happened to PC hardware in the past decade. These days, a 1TB SSD sells for around $100. That is why we were surprised to see Patriot's new 1TB P300 SSD with an MSRP of $164.99. Fortunately, the general pricing is comparable to competitors.

Patriot advertises that the P300 series is designed to provide "all-around performance for desktop and laptop users." In other words, it is not intended to set benchmark records. This is a PCI Express 3.0 drive with a relatively modest speed rating. See: [The 256GB-2TB models are rated to provide the same 4K random read (290,000 IOPs) and write (260,000 IOPs) performance, with the 128GB model also achieving 4K random reads of 290,000 IOPs, but only 150,000 4K random writes. These speeds are two to three times faster than typical SATA-based SSDs, but below average in the PCIe 3.0 realm; Patriot does not list the type of NAND used, but the specs suggest it could be QLC (or slower TLC). [This speed is on par with Crucial's P1, one of the best SSDs for gaming. However, Patriot's MSRP is an anomaly. Let's see here:

In terms of MSRP, they are priced similarly to higher-performance SSDs. For example, Western Digital's 1TB SN750, which records 3,470 MB/s sequential read and 3,000 MB/s sequential write, is currently available on Newegg for $149.99. It currently retails for $149.99 on Newegg. Street prices are much more affordable and we hope they stay that way.

Patriot has only announced 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB models, but their online store and product pages also list 128GB and 2TB capacities. These should be available soon. All of these drives come with a three-year warranty.
