Thanks to Netflix's recent release of The Witcher series, The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is doing rather well.
As PC Games Insider discovered, the NPD Group claims that sales of physical editions of The Witcher 3 increased 554% across all platforms in December 2019 compared to December 2018.Netflix's release of this Given that this is the same month that it released its own take on the fantasy series, it is clear that the Henry Cavill-starring show has convinced so many people to give the game a try.
We've known for some time that Netflix gave CD Projekt Red's game a bit of a boost, although exact numbers are not known; by the end of December, it surpassed Steam's launch day numbers, and in early January, Steam's concurrent player count surpassed 100,000 for the first time surpassed the 100,000 mark. The Witcher 3 as well as the first game in the series reached a record high of over 12,000 players in January 2020, and the second game also showed remarkable growth.
Books were also quite strong, with 500,000 new copies of the original book by Andrzej Sapkowski printed due to demand.
Of course, with so much enthusiasm surrounding Geralt's adventures, Netflix decided on "The Witcher" season 2 before the first film had even aired.
