The game has been available in Chinese on Steam for about a year now and seems to be doing quite well in the Chinese market; Azure Flame Studio is a Chinese indie team that, according to their announcement, localized the game with the help of English-speaking beta testers. The main game and DLC have been localized into English. The update to add English also includes a new, easier story mode "for players who value story over combat."

In terms of historicity and the strategy genre, musket guns, artillery, and cavalry rock-paper-scissors actually seem like a good fit for a strategy JRPG.
