Empire of Sin" postponed until Fall 2020.

Drink up, folks. The Prohibition-era gangsta tactics game "Empire of Sin" will no longer be released in the spring of 2020. Due to the need for further development time, the game has been postponed until fall 2020.

Romero Games announced the postponement on Twitter, saying in a press release that the reason for the delay is to allow "additional time for polishing." These are the words of industry legend Brenda Romero, who heads the studio with her equally legendary husband John Romero.

Between the two of them, they have a long history of genre-shaping, having worked on "Wizardry," "Doom," "Jagged Alliance," and "Quake." That alone is reason enough to be interested in "Empire of Sin," but the game boasts XCOM-like strategic combat and is set in 1920s Chicago. Oh, and John Romero's great-grandmother makes an appearance as an underworld boss. She's turned into a bum as she tries to rise to the top of that criminal world by peddling illegal booze and running a brothel. The management part is really down to the nitty-gritty, as they are under pressure from other armed gangs to pester alcoholics and prevent the spread of venereal diseases.

Delays only mean that "Empire of Sin" will be the game its creators want it to be. The concept is strong and the previews have been entertaining.
