Developer of "Duke Nukem" Reveals Alien Shooter with Online Cooperative Play Has Been Canceled

We already know that Disney's acquisition of Fox has negated the Alien FPS by Cliff Brzezinski, in which Newt would have been the main character. However, it turns out that another Alien game by 3D Realms, the developer of Duke Nukem, was also a victim of Disney's move.

Frederik Schreiber, vice president of 3D Realms, replied to Bleszinski's tweet about the canceled Aliens game and revealed his own game (via VG247) Aliens: Hadleys Hope (Aliens: Hadleys Hope), which was a co-op game about colonists and marines who must fight together to defeat an xenomorph queen; 3D Realms was to co-develop the game with Slipgate Ironworks, which is currently developing Kingpin Reloaded.

Schreiber also provided images that further illustrate the Hadley's Hope concept. It was to be a story-driven PvE multiplayer adventure that would be supported for years after launch. It is like a live-service Left 4 Dead, but with xenomorphs.

Players would have to use team tactics to break through multiple levels of alien hordes and take on a hive of queens. There would not only be one queen to defeat, but multiple queens scattered across a single planet composed of different environments where the mission would take place.

Unfortunately, Disney's merger with Fox forced the cancellation of Alien: Hadley's Hope, even though it was "well into the preliminary stages of production."

Along with Bleszinski's game, this was the first time Alien: Isolation Alien: Isolation, and was apparently another of the Alien games Fox wanted to develop after its success.
