Arc'teryx's Freezer 7 X Brings Affordable Air Cooling to CPUs for $20

Arctic has retired its affordable Freezer 7 Pro CPU cooler, which has served customers for a decade, and introduced an improved model, the Freezer 7 X.

Like its predecessor, the Arctic Freezer 7 X costs $19.99. This is cheaper than Cooler Master's Hyper 212 Evo.

We would like to see a showdown between the Freezer 7 X and the Hyper 212 Evo. Perhaps we can someday; as for a comparison to the Freezer 7 Pro, Arctic claims a nearly 10% improvement in cooling performance due to an "improved heatsink design and revised heat pipe layout."

Unlike previous models, the Freezer 7 X's two heatpipes are flattened to make direct contact with the CPU. Also upgraded are the 92mm pressure-optimized PWM fans.

Arctic has also made a few cosmetic changes: a new feature on the Freezer 7 X is a full heatsink cover with barely visible aluminum blocks.

As for compatibility, the Freezer 7 X supports AMD's AM4, AM3/AM3+, and FM2+/FM1 sockets and INtel's LGA 115x, 1200, and 775 sockets.

Freezer 7 X is currently available on Amazon.
