Play "Bloomstick League" for free in this weekend's open beta

The Bloomstick League is a 3-on-3 esports tournament, basically a rocket league via Harry Potter. Also, Chris is a terrible player. Can you be better than Chris? You can find out for free in a weekend-only open beta starting Friday.

Perhaps more important than bragging rights (or maybe not), the beta will also give you a full look at the current state of the game itself. It's going to be an interesting team esport, but Chris laments the lack of "identity" in the preview, saying that while there's not enough magic to draw in Harry Potter fans, Rocket League fans already have Rocket League. He writes, "I'm not sure what's missing from Broomstick League, but it has a hook that isn't there."

Developer Virtual Basement aims to address at least some of these concerns during Broomstick League's Early Access period. In its Early Access FAQ, the company states, "We will use the Early Access period to quickly update the game with new content, bug fixes, and stability improvements to ensure that we are fully prepared for a full-scale launch in the future." We already have a significant list of planned content, but our primary source of new ideas is the community."

Broomstick League's open beta will begin on Friday, February 21 at 10:00 a.m. PT (1:00 p.m. CST) and run through the same time on February 24; the Early Access release on Steam is scheduled for March 5.
