AOC launches large, bright 35" 200Hz gaming monitor for ¥2,159

The monitor market is not exactly awash in 35-inch gaming displays featuring 200Hz refresh rates and ultra-high brightness levels for properly displaying HDR content, but it did increase by one today: the new Agon AG353UCG from AOC is now available in Asus' ROG Swift PG35VQ, rubbing shoulders with the ROG Swift PG35VQ.

We've known about this monitor for almost a year now, but now that it's finally available, AOC has announced that the AG353UCG will be available in Europe this month for £2,159. We contacted AOC to find out when it will be available in the U.S. and what the price will be. If the exchange rate is converted as is, the price would be approximately $2,780. [The PG35VQ sells for $2,494 on Amazon. Needless to say, both are expensive models. So what is the difference? I'm not quite sure. On paper, these two look like the best gaming monitors out there.

The AG353UCG is a 35" monitor with a curved (1800R) VA screen. It has a resolution of 3440x1440, a refresh rate of 200 Hz, and a gray-to-gray (GtG) response time of 2 ms.

Like the PG35VQ, AOC's model is a G-Sync Ultimate model, capable of achieving eye-popping 1,000-nit brightness levels to make HDR content pop. They also have DisplayHDR 1000 certification, a prerequisite for the G-Sync Ultimate label.

AOC touts quantum dot technology and 90% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space, the same as the PG35VQ. The two monitors almost certainly use the same panel. The real differences would be in aesthetic design, on-screen controls, and pricing.

The AG353UCG is available for pre-order at OverclockersUK for £1,999.99, which is about $2,575 in US currency. This is close to the price of the PG35VQ, which, according to OverclockersUK pricing, is listed at £2,459.99.
