General
There is a hot coffee mod in "Red Dead Redemption 2" and Take-Two wants it removed.

Hot Coffee is a mini-game from "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" in which the main character, CJ, has coffee with his girlfriend. It gained notoriety when "San Andreas" appeared on the PC and modders dug this minigame out of the code. Even though the simulated sex was pristine and everyone was clothed, the game was quickly rerated as "Adult Only" until Rockstar released a patch that removed this content entirely. It sounds like a big deal now, but back in 2005, it was a big deal.

In the new, more modern era of video games, modders do not have to rely on buried assets and bits of code. Such is the case with the hot coffee mini-game in "Red Dead Redemption 2," which YouTuber Swegta said in a video that legal representatives from Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive told modders to remove the mod. to remove the mod. [The mod was uploaded to NexusMods on February 12 and apparently caught the attention of Take-Two and Rockstar shortly thereafter: in Swegta's video from February 18, he explains that RDR2's EULA "prohibits decompiling software, creating derivative works, or otherwise modifying ." and cites an email stating that the online service's code of conduct "prohibits the creation, uploading, or posting of material that is vulgar, obscene, sexually oriented, or contrary to community standards." This mod probably violates at least some of these restrictions and must be removed.

Unlosing, the mod maker, confirmed to PCGamesN that a Rockstar representative did in fact request its removal, but claimed that it did not actually violate any rules.

"The mod contains no nudity or nude models, only assets that are still in the game. The animations are from the drunken bar mission with Lenny (which is still in the game), and the "moans" are simply the sounds (the character models) make when they are injured. They also mention "online services" but this mod is only available in single-player.

For now, Hot Coffee for RDR2 remains available, but you have to at least pretend to be of legal age to see it. We have contacted Rockstar for more information and will update if we hear back.
